There are a core group of dedicated builders that have been bringing their hands and hearts to help construct classrooms for the past 8 years. While led by experienced Melody School Builders, it is totally a volunteer effort. Builders receive a charity tax receipt for their flight and the build portion of costs. This varies from year to year depending on hard costs . The hands on teamwork brings a great feeling of comradely, achievement and a sense of purpose. However, over and above it is an opportunity to connect with the amazing students, teachers & principal of the school while immersing yourself in the culture. While at the end of the week your buckets are empty, your heart and soul are full. When the group isn't working in the village of Chimaltenango, they stay just an hour away in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Antigua. The town breaths energy and boasts awe-inspiring architecture, absorbing culture and seriously impressive views.
"This a very special experience that will touch your soul; many people walk away feeling benefited as much as the children they are there to help." - Volunteer
